Matt Larson "Terroir"
20" x 10"
Terroir is a French word that means, in its most basic sense, “earth” or “soil.” Although no precise English equivalent exists for this quintessentially French term and concept, its roots are found in the sense of place induced by the underlying conditions of a given landscape.
The Terroir series reflects an exploration of this concept.
Larson, Waterbury Center artist, began his art study many decades ago, pursuing painting and printmaking at Rhode Island School of Design and California College of Arts and Crafts. Photogrpahy plays a prominent role in his studies as well as his culinary career. Currently, he exhibits his complex colorful work throughout the Northeast.
