Whitney Aldrich, Owner
Whitney is a graduate of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati's Design, Art, Architecture, & Planning (DAAP) program. Her personal work is a mix of ceramics and assemblage. In 2013, she purchased Axel's Frame Shop & Gallery as a way to bring an art gallery to Waterbury while still supporting the custom framing service. Before this, Whitney spent the previous 10 years as a graphic designer (freelance and in-house) with an interest in marketing. This solid foundation of fine art, color, composition, and more, creates a uniquely qualified partner in your quest to custom picture framing!
Kasey Loyer, Manager
Kasey is an oil painter and independent curator living in South Burlington, Vermont. She has a Bachelors degree in Visual Art from Naropa University in Boulder CO. Her work is inspired by a deep connection to nature. The atmospheric color fields with a focus on live forms found in nature show a sensitivity towards all natural life and shines a spotlight on even the smallest twig. Artists such as Vija Celmins, Peter Doig and Andrew Wyeth inspire her artistic style.
Kasey has played a pivotal role at Axel's since October 2015. From ideation of eye catching window displays to creating custom frame finishes, Kasey is an indispensable member of our team. She is our best resource for design and current trends making her another uniquely qualified partner in your custom picture framing journey!

Gallery Assistant, Is this You?
WE ARE HIRING!
Axel’s Gallery & Frame Shop is seeking another team member to assist with retail, gallery operations, assisting customers with picture framing orders, as well as occasional framing assistance.
The team at Axel’s prides itself in their commitment to providing incredible customer service. This is a diverse and unique job that often requires high levels of patience and focus, while being able to multitask. The ideal candidate is detailed oriented, can take direction from multiple people, work in a team environment, has great eye sight and able to lift 50 pounds. Prior picture framing or design experience is desirable. And an understanding of art history, color theory, composition and different art mediums is a plus. However, if you prefer to spend the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays out of town/state, this position is not for you as that is our busiest time of year and all hands are on deck.
You must be comfortable with answering the telephone and working on a computer. We have a point of sale system and an email account that will require your daily attention.
This is a full-time position that has a starting pay of $15/hr or more based on your experience. We offer paid holidays, a Simple IRA plan, and the opportunity to learn the workings of a small business alongside strong women entrenched in our community.
Send us an email with your interest and background and we will go from there.
We look forward to meeting you!
